Artie Higgins is a character in Mafia III.

History[]

Background[]

Artie "Sweetmeat" Higgins is the Racket Boss of the black market racket in Southdowns. He served in the Army during the Korean War for a short period of time. According to his military records, he was discharged for having a "neurotic condition".[1]

Current Operations[]

Artie's main scheme is to hijack trucks full of merchandise and then sell the goods through various outlets. The drivers are either paid off or intimidated into keeping quiet. He has been friends with Tommy Marcano for years, and together they sell the middle-class locals of Southdowns a Frisco-style lifestyle off the back of a stolen goods truck. The rest of the furs, jewels, cigarettes, and electronics get sold to out-of-town fences for even more profit.

Fate[]

In 1968, Artie Higgins' racket was taken over by Lincoln Clay, who was working with inside information he received from Grant Purdue. Lincoln damaged Artie's black market operations by killing his enforcers and other personnel, and damaging the racket's assets. Once everything fell apart, Higgins was drawn out, giving Lincoln the opportunity to confront him. After successfully infiltrating Mama Righetti's Bakery, Lincoln dealt with Higgins and ended his association with the Marcano Crime Family.
