Hello people!
What do you think of the Police A.I in Mafia III? So far as I know:
1. The police will no longer issue tickets for traffic law violations. It is still uncertain if they will still chase you for traffic law violations, some said they did, some say they do not, it may depend the game's difficulty. (Running red lights, speeding, collision). 2. The police may no longer arrest you for petty crimes as well. No youtuber checked if they would arrest you for petty crimes (Traffic law violations, harassing, tresspassing), therefore no one is able to give a definitive answer. 3. The police will shoot to kill more often. 4. There is no longer wanted person, wanted car and star levels which makes the system more complex and complicated, confusing what they will do, but for now, it seems very simple, shoot to kill for any crime, verbal warning for tresspassing unlike the previous Mafia games. 5. The police, according some youtubers, will issue a verbal warning to you if you are in whites-only areas or heavily white district (Where there are no blacks). They will just tell you to leave the area or the district. It is uncertain what will they do if you refuse to listen them. 6. The police will react if you have a gun in the open. Generally, they react to ANYTHING you do (Robbing, shooting in the air, etc) but it is widely uncertain if they react to other NPC violations (Mobsters opening fire at you in the public street for example). 7. The police is seemingly racist to you. One cop can say "N**** you need to back off" if you approach a cop. Failing to do so, may get yourself shot. 8. Police will shoot your car's tires, this is the first time method to stop your car in Mafia series. There is a way to stop this by customizing your car to have bulletproof tires.
I also noticed that the police's investigation is much more realistic and detailed. In Mafia II, if you shoot in the air, nearby cops will walk to the area where you just shot and casually walk off afterwards. In Mafia III, the police will investigate the area and will also radio in for multiple patrol cars (Which will respond with sirens and drive around the area, looking for a shooter). But sadly, they will always assume it was you who opened fire if you are front of the police too long (As the blue zone is placed onto you, dont confuse it with the red and blue flashing zones).
Robbing a store, from what I saw, shooting and killing the clerk will automatically triger police response but you wont get instantly "wanted" as they will investigate the area first.
Witnesses will call the police through the phone booth if you do ANY crime, whatever district you are in. If a police officer is nearby, the witness will run to him instead. You can incapacitate the civilians who are reporting you, non-lethaly, similarly to Watch Dogs style but in hilarious animation/takedown lol.
If the witness manages to report to the cop/police, a blue zone will be placed onto you and police will arrive and investigate. Depending the district.
If the police directly witnesses you commiting a crime, you instantly get wanted (Where blue and red zones will flash on your map, much like GTA, Watch Dogs and Driver series style.) at which they will instantly open fire at you (Again, GTA V style).
Unlike in Mafia II, there can be multiple patrol cars in a white district and none in black district. Police will arrive to white district's calls immediately, they may or may not respond to calls in black district. It is uncertain to my opinion if they will still refuse to come if you begin murdering African-American civilians.
So far, while the wanted system is removed (Wanted stars, wanted person, etc), it is still uncertain what weaponry the police will use. But from what I saw, they either use revolvers during drive-by shoot or just shotgun. No video shows of them shooting at you with thompsons which is realistic at that setting.
The police will drive-by shoot with revolver and shotgun, yes. But it is done in much realistic method. In Mafia II, almost the whole body of the cop would lean out of the window which is unrealistic as it is too risky in real-life to be done so. In Mafia III, the cop seems to lean his hand out and aim at your car/yourself and shoot. The driver, unlike Mafia I, cannot drive-by but will prepare his weapon during chase and will immediately shoot once he steps out, it seems.
The dispatching voice is okayish.
Again, there are 2 zones to keep in mind. The blue zone with a dot. Blue zone means police is investigating the area and the small dot means if you are within that, you will immediately get spotted by the police and a pursuit will begin, at which map will flash blue and red zone. Blue and red zone means, run away, they are on your tail. In short (For now I hope), either you escape from the cops or you die, as they wont arrest you. You can ask Burke to help you by bribing the police which they will let you off with a few seconds/minutes.
If you lose police sight, the police a.i will react realistically unlike in Mafia II. In Mafia II, the police will go to your last seen location and stare at the wall until the blue bar is empty. In Mafia III, they will roam around the area with sirens on and in average speeding, realistically looking for you.
What else.. My only questions so far is: 1. Do they ticket? 2. Do they arrest? 3. Will they react to NPC's crimes?
Your thoughts?
