The .38 SMG is a weapon in Mafia II.

The weapon was introduced in 1938 and was popular with both Axis and Allied forces in World War II. While not very popular with the gangsters of Empire Bay, Harry sells them in his shop for anyone who needs an inexpensive but accurate sub-machine gun.

The weapon has a magazine capacity of 30 rounds and the player can carry an additional 3 magazines for a total of 120 rounds. It has a fully automatic rate of fire with a minimal amount of recoil, making it a very accurate weapon. It occupies a slot in the top of the weapons HUD along with other automatic weapons.

They make their first appearance in Chapter 1, where the player can pick one up inside the town hall that Vito's squad is overtaking. They're not seen again until Chapter 13 when they become available for purchase at Harry's Gun Shop.

In all three Mafia II DLCs they're available for purchase at Harry's shop from the start.
